April 5: Application and submission of two (2) references deadline
June 11: Orientation (students participating in the June or July sessions may attend)
June 25: Orientation for the July session
June 17-28: First session

About the Program

Explore Work in Our Five Career Clusters

Hospitality – Learn about the many roles that contribute to satisfying patients and families, making them feel comfortable in a welcoming, clean environment and nourishing their body to aid healing.

Business – Explore the teams that ensure every area of the organization has the resources needed to deliver superior care and function in an optimal manner.

Support Services – See how direct patient care is supported by preparing equipment for procedures and assisting clinicians.

Diagnostics/Therapeutics – Hear from the professionals who support direct patient care using technologies and tools to diagnose conditions, support clinical decisions and prepare treatments and preventive interventions.

Direct Patient Care – Learn about career pathways providing and documenting key aspects of care, including physical examinations and treatments, rehabilitative therapies, administration of medication, counseling, comfort care, patient education and assistance with personal care.

Volunteer Experience

Document 60 volunteer hours over two weeks (Monday to Thursday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break).
Earn Basic Life Support and Stop the Bleed certifications.
Gain work experience in four departments. Each morning you’ll volunteer three hours in a specific department.
Enjoy lunch on us at our Riverview Café each day.
Learn about the variety of career opportunities in health care by touring different departments.
Learn what positions you can apply for right after high school graduation, which careers require certifications and which careers require college degrees.
Upon completion of the program, participants receive a certificate of participation and letter confirming volunteer hours for college applications.

Requirements to Participate

Currently enrolled sophomore, junior or senior high school student
Must be at least 15 years old by June 17, 2024
Professional, mature demeanor
Ability to work with others and provide great customer service
Fully vaccinated against Hepatitis B; Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR); Varicella; and Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap)
Able and willing to wear a face mask while volunteering
Commitment to attend orientation and an entire two-week session as outlined above
