Beaufort Memorial Hospital’s Patient Transfer Center offers one convenient phone number to connect you to 24/7 transfer services for adult and pediatric patients. Our goal is to seamlessly streamline the transfer process from patient acceptance to patient discharge.

To transfer a patient, simply call 843-522-7653 for around-the-clock assistance from our dedicated team of experienced nurses who serve as patient transfer coordinators. Please be prepared to provide:

• Your name
• Referring physician's name
• Referring hospital's name
• Phone number
• Patient's name
• Service needed by patient
• Patient’s basic condition

The patient transfer coordinator will then:

• Notify referring facility of bed availability, or time estimation of next available bed.
• Facilitate conversation between referring and accepting physicians.
• Arrange for patient acceptance.*
• Facilitate all admission requirements and coordinate bed arrangements.

* In the event that bed space is unavailable at BMH, the patient transfer coordinator will ascertain if referring facility wants to wait on the next available bed.

NOTE: Transfer of patients is facilitated 24 hours a day. Non-emergent transfers are managed on a case-by-case basis.
