Your Cancer Nurse Navigator, Research Nurse & Social Worker

We understand that a diagnosis of cancer is a time of uncertainty. That’s why at the Beaufort Memorial Keyserling Cancer Center, you’ll have your own personal guides to see you through treatment, survivorship and beyond.

Your oncology nurse navigator is specially trained and experienced to help you manage all aspects of care:

  • Answer questions about your care (including many questions you may not know to ask). 
  • Connect you with resources and services that benefit your overall well-being.
  • Help manage and schedule appointments with your multidisciplinary care team, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience.
  • Offer emotional support to you and your family.
  • Provide expert information about your diagnosis, treatment options and what to expect along the way.
  • Develop a survivorship care plan, when appropriate, to help you transition into life after cancer.

Your oncology research nurse is a resource on the latest treatments being researched through clinical trials:

  • Provide ongoing education about cancer and treatment options.
  • Connect you to promising new cancer clinical trials.
  • Provide patient and family education about the various clinical trials.
  • Help you navigate and monitor your progress through the clinical trial process, including appointments and diagnostic procedures.

Your oncology social worker is here to help you work through any challenges along the journey:

  • Provide counseling sessions to manage stress, anxiety, fears, family dynamics and other emotional components of cancer.
  • Facilitate monthly support groups to connect you with others affected by cancer.
  • Assist with connection to transportation resources to and from appointments.
  • Coordinate with medical team to complete medical leave paperwork and provide information on the disability application process.
  • Connect you to financial resources and other valuable community services.

Your oncology financial navigator is here to provide financial and medical bill counseling along the journey:

  • Connect you to community resources for household expenses. 
  • Connect you to programs available to assist with the cost of treatment.
  • Help you apply for financial assistance programs.
