Control Your Parkinson's Disease with Exercise

Beaufort Memorial is proud to offer Delay the DiseaseTM, a nationally-recognized fitness program that empowers individuals to fight the effects of their Parkinson's disease. Using symptom-specific exercises, Delay the Disease helps participants:

  • Move with ease and confidence in a crowd
  • Get out of bed and rise from a chair independently
  • Improve handwriting
  • Dress independently
  • Regain a sense of moving normally
  • Ease concerns that their symptoms are obvious to others

Delay the Disease classes are offered every Monday and Wednesday in the LifeFit Wellness Center. Classes address the needs of individuals at all fitness levels and stages of Parkinson's disease. Led by a certified Delay the Disease instructor, the group classes are only $5 per class.

David Zid, ACE, APG, the leading Parkinson’s fitness specialist and OhioHealth director of Movement Disorder and Musculoskeletal Wellness, and Jackie Russell, RN, BSN, CNOR, OhioHealth program development coordinator, collaborated to create Delay the Disease
