At Beaufort Memorial, we provide compassionate whole-person care, with all the resources you and your loved ones need to manage a breast cancer diagnosis.
Your personal breast cancer navigators will coordinate support services for you that may include:
With some cancer surgeries, including breast procedures like mastectomy and lumpectomy, lymph nodes and the attached vessels may need to be removed. That can sometimes result in painful swelling in the arms and legs, called lymphedema.
Our certified physical therapist will meet with you free of charge for one session before your surgery and provide valuable information on preventing lymphedema. If needed, we can also refer you to outpatient rehab following surgery, where our lymphedema therapists provide a variety of treatments to promote healing, reduce pain and swelling and help prevent scar tissue from forming.
Dietary issues can arise at any time during cancer treatment and affect your quality of life. We offer one-on-one nutritional support with a clinical dietitian right on-site. Together, you can develop a personalized meal plan to help you stay strong and nourished.
Restore energy and improve strength, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness with a cancer rehabilitation program designed specifically for patients who are currently in treatment or are less than one year out from diagnosis.
You'll receive a free three-month LifeFit Wellness Center membership, initial assessment of health history, lipid (cholesterol) profile, one-hour consultation with a registered dietitian, customized exercise prescription and a monthly yoga class.
Alala is a unique boutique from Columbia, South Carolina, that visits Beaufort once a month with services and products to help you feel beautiful during and after treatment. Alala offers custom fittings for wigs, bras, postsurgical breast prosthetics and compression garments.
Coordinated through the national organization Cleaning for a Reason, local cleaning companies provide their services free-of-charge to women currently undergoing cancer treatments.
Beaufort Memorial offers several options for you to connect, share and learn from other breast cancer survivors.
